Abstract

The construction of high-precision three-dimensional models during the inspection of the working surface of gas-diesel engine cylinder liners using non-contact optical systems relies on a rigorous mathematical description of the projection and registration of light patterns (structured images). The structured light method is based on the principles of optical triangulation, in which the spatial coordinates of points on the investigated surface are determined by analyzing the geometric distortions of the structured illumination. Mathematical formalization of this process requires a detailed examination of the measurement system geometry, light intensity distribution equations, and phase information decoding algorithms. This paper presents the core mathematical regularities and analytical relationships describing the transformation of two-dimensional distortions of projected fringes into three-dimensional coordinates (X, Y, Z) of the object surface.
