Investigation of the working surface of gas engine cylinder liners using laser technologies

This article presents the results of a study on the working surface parameters of gas engine cylinder liners using laser technology. Ensuring the reliability and durability of gas engines relies primarily on monitoring the condition of engine oils during operation and determining their service life. The cylinder liner is a component that affects the reliability of gas engines. Cylinder liners in gas engines operate under conditions of fluctuating pressure in the space above the piston. The radial pressure exerted by the piston ring causes the oil film to break down, thereby increasing the rate of cylinder liner wear. A variety of methods are used to monitor the parameters of the cylinder liner working surface: micrometry, pneumatic inspection, analysis of wear products in the oil, compression testing, and analysis of engine oil parameters. However, the application of laser technologies for monitoring cylinder liner working surface parameters is currently a topic of significant interest.
